Luminous Mind
What is it and do I have it?
The term Luminous Mind comes from Buddhist philosophy, reminding us that, although we may suffer, the mind is inherently “luminous” and “radiant”. Beneath trauma, struggle, oppression, ego, and social conditioning, each of us carries a clarity and wholeness that cannot be broken. Our work is not to fix what is wrong, but to uncover what has always been whole, by expanding our life condition and examining the conditions of our life through a process called Human Revolution.
In a modern, trauma-informed sense, a Luminous Mind is neurodiverse, indigenous, ancestral, and naturally multi-intelligent, celebrating the diverse ways human minds perceive, create, heal and adapt. We can gain a luminous mind by overcoming adversity, confronting reality and expanding our heart through mindful practices, engaging in the expressive arts and through play.
About Us
The Luminous Minds Project was created from a simple truth: many of us carry invisible wounds. Most communities grew up in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) that shaped our brains, nervous systems, relationships, and sense of safety-while hiding ourselves to survive in systems never built for our emotional well being. This has become a leading factor of the mental health crisis we are in today-Lack of systems of care.
LMP emerged to change that. Founded by people who have lived the impact of complex trauma and harmed by systems not trauma informed discovered the salve of humanistic care, peer support and community care that mends rather perpetuate harm, through trauma-informed care, neurodiversity empowerment, emotional justice, and creative collective healing into the places we live, work, learn, and create.
We are redefining recovery and education for those impacted by adversity and living with CPTSD, grief, and invisible wounds + neurodiversity.
Our communities and institutions do not need more awareness they need a new way to think with tools, language, practices, and conscious environments that honor and protect human life and restores integrity and dignity with heart!

Our Story
"There was nothing wrong with me
something happened to me."
Impacted by Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), their wounds pathologized and retraumatized by the lack of trauma-informed systems of care, Jodie London Knowles was forced to find another way to learn, heal and grow outside of traditional education, mental health services and 12 step programs. Through a self actualizing healing + advocacy journey rooted in humanistic values, creativity, and lived wisdom, they discovered practical tools for healing the brain, navigating harm, restoring dignity, and supporting collective healing. Often saying to peers she works with "It's okay to change your mind!"

After taking this workshop I can immediately apply what I learned at home, as well as with schools, community members and co-workers. It was a peek at ideas that are based in historical wisdom yet that connect to today's knowledge of biology and human development.
Lisa Driver, MI
I am incredibly grateful to be able to attend the workshop and be in community/space with everyone who attended. Jodie was engaging,
motivating and so incredibly knowledgeable. The reframing and
the emphasis on all of these critical parts helped me in my development and awareness of how to be a
better educator. :)
Thank you thank you!

Listening to Jodie speak about A.C.Es intrigued me and her workshop has given me hope that I too, can learn to be mindful, think differently and learn to emote
2026 Luminous Minds Collaborations
In 2026 we continue collaborating with today’s luminous minds to introduce divergent ways of thinking, learning, and healing—approaches that help us adapt, evolve, and expand in a world rapidly reshaping our brains and realities. We’re honored to work alongside brilliant, heart-centered practitioners who bring depth, creativity, and compassion to this work. Together, we inspire our communities to open to new way to think.

I definitely enjoyed this workshop. I learned a lot about ACE's, emotional intelligence and effective ways to tap into my creativity. I am glad that it was a "brave space - safe space", where I was able to share and connect with everyone!
Tony Martin, Detroit
Keep up the good work. The world needs this now more than ever; the time is right and there is no time like the present.
Othella Jones. Wa
It was fabulous and got my mind full of thoughts. I look forward to really thinking about these ideas. I hadn't taken any specific courses in Emotional Intelligence nor in ACEs so this was great new information to learn.
